Launching the Daughters of the American Revolution Floral Wreath presented by Mrs George Thatcher Guernsey, President General, upon the waters of the Potomac from the deck of U.S.S. Wicomico.

The ceremony took place at Washington DC on Memorial Day, 30 May 1918. It was originally intended to commemorate those who died in the sinking of RMS Lusitania but was widened to include all of those who had died up to that date in the war. The wreath was provided by the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Women of the Loyal Legion. The ceremony took place on board HMS Warrior and the USS Wicomico, a yard tug.
